How to Measure Your Curtains AND Install Tracks
How to Measure Your Curtains
Follow these simple steps to ensure the perfect fit:
Measure the Width
- Use a tape measure to find the widest point of your window opening (from left to right).
- For curtain fullness, multiply this width by 1.4.
- Round the result to one decimal place (e.g. 2.35 m ➔ 2.4 m).
- Enter this final measurement as the total metres of fabric or sheer you wish to purchase.
Measure the Height
- First, determine where the track or rod will sit. Add 15-18 cm above the top of the opening to allow space for the header.
- From that point, measure down to the floor, sill, or your desired drop point.
- Record this full distance as the curtain length.
Track & Rod Requirements
- To size your track or rod, take the original opening width and add 30 cm on each side (opening width + 60 cm total).
- Order your track or rod separately in metres to match this length, ensuring proper coverage and wall clearance.
